homes for modern living

Completed Projects

\ Madison Park Renewal

For this project, the homeowners asked us to rework a previous remodel. The main focus was to fill in a large vaulted area at the top of the home with a new light-filled office/loft space that provided views of the lake. To do this required the creative approach of literally "hanging" the new floor system off of the existing roof-wall connections. Inside, the new space, which is set off by gorgeous new tigerwood floors is bathed in light from the existing clerestory windows that wrap all four sides.

Our second objective was to renew the main living areas by bringing in more light and replacing the existing wall between living and dining areas. We flooded the home with light using 4 new skylights over the main entry and adding glass panels to the huge 8' front door. We then rejuvenated living and dining with a new slate tiled see-through fireplace wall which included a new custom built in cabinet on the dining room side and precast concrete hearth in the living. Solid fir mantles serve as the third link between spaces.

Additionally, a little-used full bathroom was transformed into a spacious powder room with stone tile and a gorgeous custom mahogany vanity. The countertop is eco-friendly Fuez stone.

Lastly, we connected the kids semi-adjioning book-end rooms by building custom steel and plywood loft spaces atop both rooms, accessed by ship's ladder style steel and fir loft ladders.

At the front entry, we repurposed the original 8 foot tall door by reversing the swing and adding reeded glass panels. A final refinishing was done on all of the exposed fir elements to unite and refresh the feel of the space.
